A Great Wilderness

I had the opportunity to contribute to City Arts magazine's January issue after touching base with my old friend Dan Paulus, who I learned was art-directing the deal. I thought he'd maybe have a spot illo sometime next year, but no; he contacted me a week and a half later asking if I'd be interested in  a full-page, full-color editorial illustration for an article on a new play the Seattle Rep has commissioned.  He and Editor-in-Chief Leah Baltus made a few suggestions on content, indicated the tone they were after, and let me go to it. Here are three potential solutions, the third of which was chosen.
